UCEAP Announces Gilman Scholarship Recipients for Spring 2013 Programs
DATE: 12/20/2012

Congressionally Funded Scholarships Provide up to $8,000 Per Year for Study Abroad

Santa Barbara, CA (December 2012)—The University of California Education Abroad Program announced that more than fifty UCEAP students have been awarded Gilman Scholarships for study abroad in the spring of 2013. Gilman Scholars receive up to $5,000 to apply towards their study abroad program costs, and a limited number of Critical Need Language Awards are given each year for a total award of $8,000.

The Gilman program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in Houston, Texas. In recent years UCEAP students have consistently won significant percentages of these highly competitive national awards. In addition to the Gilman Scholarship, students can also receive funding through UCEAP including $500,000 in scholarships dedicated to expanding opportunities for UC students from all backgrounds and academic disciplines to study abroad.

UCEAP extends warmest congratulations to the spring Gilman Scholarship awardees and invites all UC students to learn more about study abroad scholarship opportunities at eap.ucop.edu/Scholarships.
