The University of Western Australia, Perth
Students are not always as familiar with the University of Western Australia (UWA) as they are with other Australian universities. UWA has a gorgeous campus on the west coast in Perth, one of the sunniest cities in Australia. Perth offers great surfing at pristine beaches, and if you want to do research with a faculty member, this is the place to be. UWA professors (unlike many other universities) encourage international students to do research for course credit (you can look for a supervisor on the UWA website). Students interested in getting credit for real world experience should consider applying for a placement in a business, industry, government or community workplace through the UWA Arts Practicum. The Practicum requires 100 hours of work, but past students say the practical experience acquired was well worth the time
invested. Read about one student's experience...

Perth offers students a more local Aussie experience than might be found in Australia's more international cities. In addition to a wide array of subjects, you will find valuable course work in Asian studies, business and management, legal studies, anthropology, economics, geology, environmental engineering, agriculture, and marine studies. The anthropology museum provides access to unique Australian and Southeast Asian collections. (CRICOS 00126G)

Perth

Perth is the capital city of Western Australia, the largest of Australia’s seven states. Situated on the west coast, Perth and the surrounding area have a climate that mirrors that of coastal California. The modern and multicultural city of 1.74 million offers inhabitants a lifestyle that is relaxed and friendly, and very much oriented to the outdoors and sporting activities. Built around the broad reaches of the Swan River, Perth owes much of its charm to parks and recreational facilities along the river.

One the oldest universities in the state of Western Australia, the University of Western Australia in Perth is located by the Swan River and Perth’s financial and business center. This central location puts you right in the bustle and vibrancy of the hub of the city. In addition, there are a variety of clubs and activities on campus, and the on campus bar “Tavern” hosts local and nationally touring bands every Friday during the semester. The UWA Student Guild hosts events throughout the school year as well, including carnivals and balls.
