Pursue rigorous business and economics course work taught in English in the School of Business at the high-tech Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Situated in a lovely seaside setting above Clear Water Bay in the New Territories, the campus provides state-of-the-art academic, student life, and sports facilities for daily student needs.
 
HKUST is located just 30 minutes away from Hong Kong’s downtown center. 
 
Students attend classes with international and/or host country students.

Housing

You will reside on campus in a student dormitory or apartment with local students conveniently located on campus. You also have the option of living off campus.

On-site Support

EAP students are supported by UC's network of EAP offices at every UC campus and partnerships with EAP host universities throughout the world. Once abroad, a host university faculty or staff member representing EAP will be your first point of contact for all matters. Among other things, the designated person provides support with academic matters, program logistics, and personal issues. At HKUST, each school has a designated EAP Liaison Officer and program administrators who oversee EAP students and will assist you with various needs, including academic advising.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
The mission of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is to advance knowledge in science, technology, engineering, business, and management, and to assist the economic and social development of Hong Kong. Its ultramodern, futuristic-looking campus is located on 150 acres of terraced hillsides overlooking Clear Water Bay. 
 
Founded in 1991, the university has exceptional recreational facilities, studios, music rooms, TV and game rooms, running tracks, tennis and squash courts, and an Olympic-size swimming pool. The campus also has a modern library, an advanced center for computing and telecommunications, an extensive advanced research infrastructure, and a multitude of state-of-the-art facilities in engineering, including the Institute of Integrated Microsystems, the Geotechnical Centrifuge Facility (which is unique in the region), the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Institute, and the Center for Energy and Thermal systems.
The scenic campus is about 30 minutes from downtown Hong Kong.
 

Estimated Cost

Participation in UCEAP is a great value! The cost of studying abroad on UCEAP programs is typically less than that of non-UC study abroad programs. The dollar figures listed in the chart represent: 1) the amount of the fees that are paid directly to UCEAP in the current year, and 2) an estimate of the amount needed to cover personal living expenses in this location. Personal travel and entertainment are not included here.
 
Don't forget that you take your financial aid with you and the amount of your financial aid package will take into account the estimated TOTAL COST of this experience, as it is estimated below.
 
These expenses are estimated for 2012-13. Amounts will vary for 2012-13 participation due to potential changes to UC fees, exchange rate fluctuation, etc. Non-Resident Fees apply: If you are subject to out-of-state tuition at your UC campus, you will pay the same fees on UCEAP. Application Requirements

Class Level:

Junior, Senior

Language Prerequisites:

None

GPA:

3.00 cumulative GPA at the time of application and maintained through the end of the last term prior to departure.

Other Eligibility Requirements:


Advanced undergraduates with a strong background in economics, management, or business administration, as well as mathematics.

Students must have a cumulative UC GPA of at least 3.0. Transfer GPAs will not be accepted for Hong Kong programs.

Minimum Criteria:

 All applicants must also have:
  • Serious academic goals and a clear plan for integrating EAP studies into the student's UC degree program
  • Social and cross-cultural sensitivity; maturity; ability to adapt successfully to a different environment and an new education system; ability to assess and exhibit appropriate behavior in a variety of situations
  • A willingness to abide by program regulations
  • An endorsement by the Campus EAP Selection Committee and completion of all campus-specific requirements (an interview may be required)

Deadlines

Application deadlines and information on the application process are available through your Campus EAP Office. Supplemental predeparture materials will be required for many programs, including, but not limited to, host institution applications, visa and housing applications, medical clearances, etc.
