University of Commerce Luigi Bocconi, Milan

Bocconi University is a private higher-learning institution focused on research and the study of international economics, business, and law. Located in Milan, the main industrial, financial, and commercial city of Italy, Bocconi University is an internationally renowned business school with connections to several research centers and international companies. Bocconi was founded in 1902, and was the first university to offer a degree in Economics in Italy.
At Bocconi University, the obvious emphasis is placed on economics, with departments including the Ettore Bocconi Department of Economics and the Angelo Sraffa Department of Legal Studies, as well as the departments of Accounting, Finance, Management and Technology, Policy Analysis and Public Management, Decision Sciences, and Marketing.
Many cultural and recreational opportunities are available at Bocconi University, such as student groups and sporting teams. The University Sports Association hosts many teams, sports days, and tournaments, where their mascot, the Pelican, cheers on Bocconi students. Wellness courses (such as yoga and shiatsu) are also offered, as well as IT courses for any economics students wishing to learn more about computers.
Because of Bocconi’s location in Milan, many opportunities are open to students for economic and business learning outside of the classroom. For example, the Italian Stock Exchange operates out of Milan, giving students the opportunity to see the stock market in action. Milan also offers a host of cultural events for the artistic and fashion-savvy student. Milan Fashion Week is a huge deal in the city, and because of its title as a major fashion and design capital of the world, Milan is always surprising students with events and new shops to browse through.
