Deepen your knowledge of genetics, clinical nutrition or molecular biology,
gain insight into contemporary European health issues, and discuss
medical case studies. Maastricht University uses a distinctive
Problem-Based Learning (PBL) pedagogy that is
student-centered with professors providing guidance during the learning
process. In small tutorial groups, you will analyze real-world problems
similar to what you will encounter in your subsequent career.
The semester at Maastricht is divided into two blocks. You will take two courses in each block. Core Courses: In each block you must take one of the core courses listed below. These courses are specially designed to combine strong academics with integrated field trips. You must take one health/biology-based core course. Your second core course can be a health/biology course or it can be one of the Dutch art or culture courses listed below.
Additional Courses: In each block you will also select one additional course from the list below of bachelor-level courses offered in English by Maastricht University's Science Program, University College Maastricht, and the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences.
All courses are upper-division; 6 quarter/4 semester UC units.

You are required to take a full-time course of study while abroad. 24 quarter/18 semester units; 4 courses.
An independent study project worth 2.5 UC quarter units can be added to one of your core courses.
This program is offered by the Center for European Studies (CES) at
Maastricht University, one of the highest-ranking universities in the
Netherlands. CES prides itself on providing the best possible European
study abroad experiences inside and outside the classroom. For more than
20 years CES has been offering comprehensive study abroad programs in
English for international students. CES welcomes approximately 450
