From Mt. Kilimanjaro to the plains of the Serengeti, Tanzania is a land of beauty and dramatic contrasts. Colorful markets, tranquil coastlines and incredible wildlife reserves will be a memorable part of your experience as you study community development, language and culture in three distinct locations over the course of the semester. Development, global and African studies majors find much to learn in Tanzania, a nation that personifies change in its progressive social and political agendas, environmental development and evolving relationships in gender, class and ethnicity.
Field research is a key component of this program. Through internship or service-learning opportunities in three settings, gain hands-on experience working alongside Tanzanians in education, healthcare, conservation or social services.
Explore community development through field trips, excursions, and community engagement projects in Dar es Salaam, Iringa, and Mufindi.
