EAP students are fully integrated with Turkish and other international students into Boğaziçi University classes and have access to all fields of instruction.  Boğaziçi University was founded with the vision of generating universal knowledge and contributing to critical thinking, science, and technology while serving humanity. Courses are in English, but students can increase their ability to interact socially with Turkish students outside of classes while they study some Turkish.

Academic highlights include:
  • Course offerings in the Turkish Language and Literature Department for international students who are registered during the fall, spring and summer terms: The grammar courses are taught at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. Housing

Students live in dormitories on campus or in apartments off-campus they locate for themselves. Almost all dorms have kitchenettes, laundry facilities, TV lounges, study halls, and recreation areas. Most EAP students select on-campus housing because the campus offers almost everything students want to purchase. It is a secure campus with restricted entry, and students do not have to arrange daily transportation to class. A well-trained staff of Residence Advisors is always available. Dormitory life also offers the best opportunity to meet and interact with Turkish and other international students.

On-site Support

EAP students are supported by UC's network of EAP offices at every UC campus and partnerships with EAP host universities throughout the world. Local staff abroad help students integrate into the culture and provide assistance with academics, housing, safety, and other issues.

See the EAP Program Guide (PDF) for program-specific details about host institutions, program structure, and courses; academic culture and conduct; internships, research, & independent study; units, exams, and grades; orientation; housing; and information about the intensive language program (if applicable).

Bogaziçi University, Istanbul

Bogaziçi University, Istanbul
Located in central Istanbul, Boğaziçi University enrolls more than 12,000 students from 60 countries and was formally established on September 12, 1971. Prior to 1971, the university was Robert College – the first American college to be established outside of the United States. With the transfer of the college to the Turkish government, Boğaziçi University adopted the distinguished academic tradition of Robert College as well as its excellent facilities. The university educates a large portion of the new faculty for the growing Turkish system of higher education.

Many of the university's buildings are located on its South Campus, with the Bosphorus and the historical castle of Rumelihisar as its boundary to the east. Boğaziçi University has faculties of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Economics and Administrative Sciences, and Education; six institutes offering graduate programs; the School of Foreign Languages and the School of Applied Disciplines. Many faculty members teach in more than one faculty and the faculty structure promotes interdisciplinary teaching whenever appropriate.
