International Summer School, Univ. of Sussex

Plan now to spend summer 2012 living and learning with students from around the world, earning UC credit and enriching your experience with a different academic and cultural environment. Key to the mission of Sussex University's eight-week International Summer School is the interdisciplinary course as well as small group teaching with individual attention. Courses are intensive and may include lectures, tutorials, labs, seminars, workshops, independent research, and fieldwork.

In addition to academics, summer students
enjoy the exciting seaside resort of Brighton, the beautiful South Down national park surrounding the University campus, and the greater London area, which is less than an hour away by rail. Optional group excursions are offered every weekend during the program.

Students attend classes with international students.

Course Opportunities

The program is divided into two, four-week sessions. Students enroll in one course during each session. The wide range of course offerings include American studies, anthropology, archaeology, art and architecture, biology, chemistry, creative writing, drama, economics, education, English, environmental science, film studies, forensic science, history, international relations, management studies, media and popular culture, music, philosophy and religion, physics, politics, psychology, and sociology.

Two courses are required for all students (6 quarter units each):
  • One for the first four weeks
  • One for the second four weeks
Use the following resources to learn about courses on EAP:
  • EAP Program Search provides information on general areas of study.
  • See the host institution online catalogs/course listings for course descriptions (level I courses are lower division and level II/III are upper division).
  • MyEAP Course Catalog to search for courses previously taken by UC students.
Additional courses may be available at host institutions or program locations and not all courses may still be offered. Since courses in new programs have not yet been taken for credit, they may not appear in the MyEAP Course Catalog.
