Housing Information
Housing is not guaranteed. Be aware that the standard rental agreement for housing accommodations is nine months (or until the end of the academic year for students arriving in January). Students leaving their housing before the end of the agreement may be subject to a cancellation fee.
California Housing Board (Non-UC Housing)
The California Housing Board provides a forum for all Education Abroad Program participants to share information about housing for rent and housing situations wanted in California. Students are encouraged to post messages about housing sublets, shared housing situations, rooms for rent, and rentals.

Application Deadline: June 1, 2012
Application Notes: Use your application ID number (obtained from your home university international office) and your student ID number (located in your UCI acceptance letter) to login.
Application Fee: Non-refundable processing fee required with application.
Method of Payment Option: Online with a credit card, or by printing a payment coupon and mailing it with a check, or money order in US dollars, payable to "UC Regents." Contact SAC immediately if you have problems obtaining a bank draft or an international money order.
Notification of Housing Assignments: Successful applicants will receive e-mail notification.
NOTE: Undergraduate students should disregard the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) return deadline date on the housing application. The SIR is automatically returned for all UCEAP students.
Other Housing Resources (Non-UC Housing)
Students should be aware that this housing is not UC sponsored or endorsed and that it not advisable to rent prior to arrival when you can visit the rental in person.
Arrival Information
Dates
When should I arrive?: No later than September 23, 2012.
You may arrive no more than 30 days prior to the date printed on your visa certificate of eligibility (DS-2019). Students who do not have pre-arranged housing are advised to arrive early.

Prerequisite Clearance Request Form
You will receive your UCI student ID number from the UCI campus by e-mail. Your UC application ID number can be obtained from your home university international office.

Graduate students
Graduate students usually register after consultation with the department’s graduate advisor. Check with your host department for registration advising.
English Language and Placement Testing
English Language Placement Exam: None required
English Language Placement Exam for registration for classes: May be required for some introductory classes. Refer to the testing office website to determine if you are required to take this exam.

Health Insurance
2012-13 costs are listed below. Plan benefits and effective dates are not yet available.
Requirement: Students are automatically enrolled in the University’s Student Health Insurance Plan unless they complete an online waiver form and provide proof of equivalent coverage, and it is approved.
Cost: $308 per quarter (undergraduates); $696 per quarter (graduates)

Payment may be made at the Central Cashier's Office upon arrival at UCI.
