Housing
Housing is not guaranteed. Be aware that the standard rental agreement for some housing accommodations is nine months (or until the end of the academic year for students arriving in January). Students leaving their housing before the end of the agreement may be subject to a cancellation fee.

Application Instructions: EAP students do not need to submit a SIR (Statement of Intent to Register); this is done on students' behalf by EAP. Follow all other instructions. If you submit multiple applications, the last one submitted will be considered active. Late applicants will be added to a waiting list.
Application deadline: June 10, 2013
Application Fee: $25 contract processing fee is billed to students' BARC account if a contract is signed and returned.
Deposit Required: $150 for security deposit billed to students' BARC account if student signs a housing contract.
Activity Fee: $26 for San Clemente; $27 for Santa Ynez, El Dorado and Westgate
Method of Payment Options: Student's BARC account will automatically be billed.
Notification of Housing Assignments: Apartment and roommate assignments are generally e-mailed by the end of August for fall students and by the end of December for winter students.

Deposit Required: $40 membership fee (non-refundable); Refundable deposit is twice the cost of the room charge. Payable upon arrival.

A limited number of assignments are reserved for international students. The living environment of the Co-Op emphasizes community, cooperation, and responsibility. Residents are expected to make a contribution to the care of their surroundings through our service program, participation in meal preparation, house chores and meetings.

The Off-campus Rental Listing Service is free to currently enrolled UCSB students. Students can search and/or submit listings for off-campus housing. If you do not yet have your UCSB Perm and PIN, you may request temporary log-in access by e-mail. Identify yourself as an "EAP Reciprocity Student."

When should I arrive?:  No later than September 22, 2013
You may arrive no more than 30 days prior to the date printed on your visa certificate of eligibility (DS-2019). Students who do not have pre-arranged housing are advised to arrive as early as possible.

Temporary Accommodation Information (UC-Housing)

Students may obtain affordable overnight accommodations at a residence hall on the Santa Barbara campus. Friends and family members are not eligible and must find accommodations in local hotels (See resources below).

Notes: Reservations in advance are not accepted. Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis until the hall is full.

Undergraduate Students
 
Enrollment Time: Students may view their registration time by selecting the "Registration Info" option in GOLD. Enrollment begins July 1, 2013.
 
Students will receive a student perm number and a PIN for registration via e-mail.
Graduate Students
Graduate students usually register after consultation with the department’s graduate advisor. Check with your host department for registration advising.
Financial Information

​​BARC: View your student account. Financial information is available online. You are responsible for checking your student account regularly and paying any fees that apply.

Paying Fees

International Student ​Orientation fee: $20 will be billed to your account; Orientation includes refreshments.

College of Letters and Sciences Technologies fee: $2.50 per unit fee is capped at 15 units (for a maximum of $37.50) is assessed only to courses in the College of Letters and Science.  The fee will be billed to your student account in the fourth week after the course add/drop deadline.

Health Insurance Fees: Fees will be billed to your account each quarter. See Health Insurance & Services information below.

Academic Resources

Campus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS) assists students in their mastery of university-course material through course-specific tutoring and academic skills development.

Health Insurance & Services

2013-14 costs and information are listed below.

Requirement: Students are automatically enrolled in the University’s Student Health Insurance Plan, unless they complete a waiver form that provides proof of equivalent coverage, and it is approved. 

Cost: $805 per quarter (undergraduates); $818 per quarter (graduates)
Billing: Each quarter
Payment Deadline: Students may pay insurance fees at the cashier’s office on arrival. Fees should be paid by the end of the first week of classes.
 
Effective Dates:
Fall: September 22, 2013 - January 6, 2014
(Special early effective date for international students arriving in the fall is September 1, 2013)
Winter: January 6, 2014 - March 31, 2014 
Spring: April 1, 2014 - September 22, 2014 
 
Waiver Deadlines:
Fall: September 1, 2013 - will accept until October 11, 2013 with $50 late fee
Winter: December 15, 2013 - will accept until January 25, 2014 with $50 late fee
Spring: March 9, 2014 - will accept until April 19, 2014 with $50 late fee
