About ID Numbers at UC Merced

Students must claim their UCMNetID and access their online student account in the MyUCMerced portal to enroll. Your Student ID (SID) number will be sent to you as soon as it becomes available. You will use the SID to claim your UCMNetID and create your password.

SID (Student Identification) is a 9-digit number assigned by UCM to every new student. This SID is used by UCM as your unique identifying number.

UCMNetID is an ID that you claim using your SID number and other required personal information to confirm your identity. Your UCMNetID does not have to be a number.

My.UCMerced.edu is where you use your UCMNetID and password to access your online student account and enroll in courses.

Claim your UCMNetID
Once you received your SID, click the "First Time Users, claim your UCMNetID" link.
Graduate Students
Graduate students usually register after consultation with the department’s graduate advisor. Check with your host department for registration advising.
