Outreach

Refers broadly to the ongoing engagement of academic units in dialogue about study abroad. More specifically, this involves:

  • Meeting with academic units individually or in groups to determine how study abroad can be integrated into their curricula.
  • Promoting opportunities for faculty and staff involvement in EAP.
  • Seeking campus leadership's endorsement of, support for, and participation in AI activities.

Promotion & Advising

Refers to the advertisement and advocacy of study abroad opportunities through discipline/major-specific study abroad publications and academic unit channels. This includes:

  • The collaborative development and use of Study Abroad MAPs (Major Advising Pages).
  • Creating and utilizing EAP Discipline Pages/Pamphlets, Flash Presentations, and other discipline-targeted materials.
  • Co-hosting (with academic units) discipline-specific study abroad information meetings for students.
  • Promoting study abroad through academic units’ websites, general catalog entries, handbooks, major summary sheets, newsletters, etc.

Requirements

Refers to the approval of study abroad courses to fulfill major, minor, breadth, and other degree requirements. This also involves working to reduce academic unit's restrictions on the application of study abroad units.

Note: All EAP courses are automatically taken for UC unit credit towards graduation. However, individual academic units reserve the right to determine if students can use particular EAP courses to fulfill specific degree requirements.

Bridges

Refers to the development of UC courses and training that provide a foundation for and/or build on study abroad experiences. This also involves working with academic units to to expand and integrate experiential opportunities (internships, research, and independent study) that students can work on before, during, and after EAP.
