Major/Minor Requirements

Across the UC system, individual academic units differ greatly in their methods of archiving their approvals of EAP courses for major requirements.

• Spreadsheet Template: This template contains all the fields necessary for EAP to effectively track approved courses. Furthermore, this template integrates with EAP’s central database, allowing the shaded columns to be filled in automatically according to certain criteria (e.g. Course Subject Area and EAP Program). Departments are free to customize the un-shaded columns to meet their needs.

Note: The EAP ID Number is the unique identification number of a course. It is optimal for tracking purposes because its alphanumeric code tells EAP staff where and when the course was offered and, unlike the EAP Course Number or Host University Course Number, it will not change over time. It can be found near the top of the course information screen in Course Finder.

Credit Limitations

Many departments limit the number of EAP courses or units that can be applied to major requirements. Certain campus EAP offices collect this information:
