Study Abroad in China
A growing international economic force, China is simultaneously experiencing unprecedented social, environmental, and cultural changes that students observe firsthand. Whether you choose to pursue language and cultural studies, economics and business, global and international studies, or any other academic field, learn from its past and watch the future unfold in China.
In Shanghai, special-focus programs taught in English concentrate on Chinese economics and business during the spring, and in the fall the focus shifts to international and global studies within a Chinese context at Fudan University. In Beijing, students may take courses in any number of fields in regular university departments at Peking University, or focus on Chinese language acquisition at Beijing Normal University. Intensive summer language programs for students with no prior background in Chinese or some introductory Chinese study are available at Beijing Normal University and East China Normal University in Shanghai. A new short-term summer program at Peking University offers study in select courses taught in English for international students.
In all locations, UC students study and live alongside local and international students at top-ranked Chinese universities in major international cities. Students enrolled in fall or spring terms may be able to arrange unique independent studies or engage in internships with high-profile international, Chinese, or U.S. agencies.
