Description
|
This is an intensive intermediate-level course in conversational practice for students who have completed at least three quarters of university-level Chinese or the equivalent. The primary goal of the course is to build students' listening and conversational skills, focusing on accuracy of pronunciation. Students should master about 90 common-use grammar points and about 400 new words, be able to understand daily conversation with local people speaking at regular speed, and be able to communicate with local people with new words and grammar. The ability to use long sentence expressions is improved. Students do simple discussions, context conversations, and debates on topics related to the course text. The instructor corrects pronunciation and trains students' oral Chinese expression and strengthens their general comprehension of Chinese language and culture. Instructors use question-answer sessions to raise the students' ability to express themselves and assign tasks to give students the opportunity to use Chinese. Text: Guifu Dai, ELEMENTARY SPOKEN CHINESE: ADVANCED. Assessment: class participation and presentation (20%), two weekly tests (40%), final exam (40%).
