Course Description

 

This course in Mexican history provides Spanish reading, writing, and listening comprehension practice while imparting the general historical events and socio-political and economic movements that have shaped the country. The course material is divided into three units: Mesoamerican cultures, the colonial period, and the national period through the Mexican Revolution. Students work from a textbook, visit important historical locations, perform interviews and report on the results of visits and interviews. Assessment is based on class participation, weekly papers, oral and written presentations, a midterm exam, and a final exam.
