Course
Description
|
This course is designed for students who have completed host university Japanese III, or the equivalent, and have mastered basic skills. It continues the development of a balance of the skills of listening, reading, and writing. It focuses on discourse and sentence structure, vocabulary, and approximately 200 kanji. Students also work on individual projects and study aspects of Japanese culture. Text: NIHONGO CHUKYU J301. Assessment: homework assignments (5%), quizzes (10%), research project, presentations, and reports (5%), writing assignments (7%), listening assignments (5%), speaking assignments (4%), reading assignments (4%), tests (30%), final exam (30%). Note: ''Intermediate'' language levels at the host university are comparable to UC upper-division language courses. This course is approximately equivalent to UC quarters 9 and 10 or semester 6 to 7.
