Course
Description
|
This course is the second in the series of intermediate Japanese courses and continues Japanese IV or the equivalent. Through the use of excerpts from contemporary authors, newspapers, and videos, this course develops a balance in skills in kanji, vocabulary, expressions, and grammar. Students read authentic academic materials and learn to express their opinions. The course introduces 200 new kanji and 60 new idioms. Text: NIHONGOCHUKYU J501. Assessment: attendance and participation; listening, reading, and speaking assignments; essay; presentation; quizzes and tests; final exam. Note: ''Intermediate'' language courses at the host university are comparable to UC upper-division language courses. This course approximately equivalent to UC fourth-year level.
