Course
Description
|
This course enhances Italian composition and conversation for students who possess skills developed during limited previous formal or informal language study. Reading Italian texts on different subjects introduces specialized vocabulary and phraseology. Writing competence includes simple phrases and expressions containing information on family, life conditions, education, and jobs; brief descriptions of past events and activities; personal letters; and brief descriptive, narrative, or regulative texts. Students read simple texts that contain very common and concrete terms, formulated into a language that occurs frequently in daily life and work. The verb tenses studied include a review of Level 1, the contrast between imperfect/past, future simple, imperative, and present conditional. Other grammatical elements include further study of forms and uses of all the simple and articulated prepositions; adverbs; 'ci' locative and 'ne' partitive; negation; indefinites; connectives; and use of direct and indirect pronouns.
