China: Intensive Elementary Language Program, Beijing Normal University

Host Institution

Beijing Normal University (BNU)

Highlights

This new intensive beginning Chinese language program, for students with no exposure to Chinese, is under development at BNU and will offer the first year of Chinese language study. In this nine-week summer program, students will spend at least 24 hours a week in lectures, oral practice, and tests. Classes focus on conversation, listening, reading, and writing. Students may also participate in excursions and non-credit courses on Chinese culture, such as calligraphy, cooking, martial arts, and traditional crafts. Information in this brochure is preliminary and is subject to modification; for updated information see the EAP website. The program will be held at the attractive BNU campus, where EAP also holds a shorter summer program for students who have some Chinese language background. BNU has easy access by subway or taxi to the city center.
