China: Economics and Business Program—Fudan University, Shanghai

The information below is for the 2007-08 academic year.

Overview

This spring semester program offers upper-division courses in economics and business taught in English. Courses are specially selected from Fudan University’s School of Economics, School of Management, and Department of Sociology. Instructors have revised these courses in collaboration with EAP to meet the needs of UC students and to present a coordinated program. Additional courses are being planned for the future.

The program is intended to serve primarily students of business and economics, political economy, development, global and international studies, communication, and history. The curriculum focuses on Chinese economic development and business, China’s rapidly expanding role in the world economy and international relations, and Chinese society and culture in the era of globalization. Shanghai and the Yangtze Delta economy provide an ideal locale for case studies of economic development in a changing cultural, political, and international environment. Elementary Chinese language classes will also be available.

Students interested in continuing their language study may be able to extend their EAP participation to the summer intensive language program at East China Normal University following the spring semester at Fudan.
