Who can resist the excitement of Brazil? South America’s largest and most populous country is also at the forefront of Latin American approaches to representative government, economic development, environmental questions, and race relations. Students who have little or no prior Portuguese language background may spend a semester in Salvador on the Bahia Language and Culture Program, which focuses on language acquisition and questions of Afro-Brazilian identity. Students with one year of university-level Portuguese (or two years of Spanish) may attend EAP’s spring, fall, or year program options and pursue courses in their majors at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC-Rio) in the dynamic setting of
Rio de Janeiro.
