EAP has two very different programs in Costa Rica. Students in the immersion programs travel together and prepare academically during an intensive language program, live in the capital city of San José, and pursue a wide variety of academic disciplines at the University of Costa Rica (UCR) side-by-side with local students. This option is offered during the spring, fall, and calendar year. In addition, it is possible for students to add a six-week academic internship following the spring semester.

Students in the Tropical Biology and Conservation Program visit cloud forests, coastal environments, and coral reefs; learn some Spanish; and engage in hands-on biological field research with dedicated instructors in field stations and labs. This intensive experience in the tropics offers unparalleled opportunities for research and discovery. Students may take this option during either the spring or the fall quarter.
