Denmark: Student Comments
“EAP gave me a great opportunity to explore Danish history and culture, both in the academic sphere and the geographical sphere. After learning about trade and economic growth in my Danish culture class, our Study Center organized a trip to the Danish island, Bornholm, where I walked among the ruins of the ancient fortress Hammershus. It was amazing to see how this tiny island used to control trade in the Baltic Sea. Also, Bornholm is home to the world's largest ice cream, the Apollo!” —Nicole Child, UC Berkeley “Studying in Denmark proved academically rewarding. My professors were always available and helpful, and the highly independent level of studying provided a nice change of pace for the regular UC course structure. As a graduating senior I was able to integrate electives on Danish culture and society, while still fulfilling requirements for my major.” —Erica Medley, UC Santa Barbara “Learning Danish and living in Denmark was the hardest thing I ever did in my life, but it was also the most rewarding experience!” —Erika Ray, UC Santa Cruz “The best time I had was in the beginning language class. I made a lot of friends, we had a great time with the course, and we hung out and went traveling outside of class. Getting to know the international students can be just as great as getting to know the native students” —Andrew Wallace, UC Berkeley
