France: Immersion Program, University of Grenoble
Host InstitutionUniversity of Grenoble (University web sites) HighlightsEAP students may study for the full academic year. Students take regular university courses alongside local students. All instruction is in French. (details) Science and engineering students: see separate program description. Duration Academic year: late August to late May or June (calendar) Qualified fall students can extend their participation to the year program in Grenoble. Academic FocusFall: Regular university courses. Course work is only appropriate for social science majors and others interested in receiving social science credit. Year: Regular university courses. Most academic disciplines are available. See Subject Areas. Students are advised not to take economics courses at Grenoble. See Course Finder for approved courses previously taken by EAP students. Students attend classes with international students, host country students, and UC students. Language of InstructionFrench Language StudyAll students are required to enroll in a French language program organized by EAP consisting of French language study throughout the fall semester. Additionally, all students are required to take a French academic writing course. UnitsStudents are required to take a full-time course of study while abroad; 21 UC quarter units are required each term. HousingYear: Students live in private homes, apartments, or studios with international students, host country students, or UC students. During the first three to four weeks of the program, students will live in dormitories. Fall: Most students will live in homestays (private homes) with French families.
