France: Immersion Program, University of Lyon

Highlights

EAP students study for the academic year in this full immersion program and take regular university courses alongside local students. All instruction is in French. (details)

Duration

Fall Semester: late August to late December (calendar)

Academic year: late August to mid-June (calendar)

Qualified fall students can extend their participation to the year program in Lyon.

Academic Focus

Fall: Regular university courses. Course work is only appropriate for social science majors and others interested in receiving social science credit.

Year: Regular university courses. Most academic disciplines are available. See Subject Areas. See Course Finder for approved courses previously taken by EAP students.

Students attend classes with international students, host country students, and UC students.

Language of Instruction

French

Language Study

Program begins with a three-week French intensive language program (ILP). All students are required to take a French academic writing course during the year.

Units

Students are required to take a full-time course of study while abroad.

ILP: 3 to 7 UC quarter units are required

Term: 18 UC quarter units are required

Housing

During the ILP, students live in a residence. Thereafter, fall and year students live in private homes, apartments, or studios with international students, host country students, or UC students. (details)
