France: Programs in French and European Studies, UC Center in Paris
Host InstitutionHighlightsEAP students study French and European studies at the upper-division level in English. (details) DurationFall semester: mid- or late August to mid- or late December (calendar) Qualified fall students may extend their participation to the Bordeaux spring option. Academic FocusA three-week introductory French language and culture component introduces students to Paris and the practical use of French. For the semester, students continue to study French, and enroll in three upper-division program courses in the humanities and social sciences. Courses emphasize French and European studies and are taught by scholars from institutions in the Paris area. Offerings may vary each year. Language of InstructionEnglish Language StudyProgram includes an initial three-week French language practicum and additional language study during the term. UnitsStudents are required to take a full-time course of study while abroad. Approximately 21 UC quarter units are required (approximately five courses). HousingStudents live in homestays with French families (private homes) or in dormitories with UC and other American students. Students planning to extend to the Bordeaux spring option are required to live in a homestay while in Paris. Housing is organized by ACCENT, the program provider.
