France: Course Information

General Curriculum Programs

(Bordeaux, Grenoble, Lyon, Toulouse)

(Toulouse canceled after 2007-08)

Use the following resources to learn about EAP courses:

  • Subject Areas (PDF) to see general availability of areas of study.
  • Course Finder to search for courses previously taken by UC students.
    Additional courses may be available at host universities or program locations and not all courses may still be offered. Since courses in new programs have not yet been taken for credit, they may not appear in Course Finder.
  • Host university web sites to search online catalogs or course listings.
  • EAP Student's Guide (PDF) to find further details in the Academic Information section.

Special Curriculum Programs

The following programs have predetermined curricula designed for UC students.

Programs in French and European Studies, UC Center in Paris—Fall and Spring Semesters

Four courses are required for all students:

  • One French Language course (7.0 UC quarter units)
  • Three elective courses (6.0 UC quarter units each)

Introductory Studies in Western Civilization Programs, American University of Paris—Fall

and Spring Semesters

Four courses are required for all students:

  • One French language course (6.0 UC quarter units)
  • One core courses chosen from a list of courses selected for UC students (4.5 UC quarter
  • units each)

  • Two courses selected from AUP’s regular course offerings

Fall Intensive Language, Culture, & Society Program, Bordeaux

Five courses are required for all students:

  • One intensive language and culture course (6.0 UC quarter units)
  • One course on Oral French (4.0 UC quarter units)
  • One course on Written French (4.0 UC quarter units)
  • Two courses on French culture and society (7.5 UC quarter units each)

Fall Intensive Language, Culture, & Society Program, Lyon

Five courses are required for all students:

  • Two French language courses (6.0 UC quarter units each)
  • One course on Written and Oral Expression (6.0 UC quarter units)
  • Two courses on French culture (3.0 UC quarter units each)

Summer Language and Culture Program, UC Center in Paris

Two courses are required for all students:

  • One French language course (10.0 UC quarter units)
  • One elective course on French culture (4.0 UC quarter units)
