Germany: Fall Semester in Göttingen with Spring Internship

Highlights

Eligible students may study at Georg-August University for the fall and then participate in a three-month internship with a company or agency at another location in Germany. Through this option students earn academic credit while enhancing their experience in an international setting. Academic credit for internships may vary by campus regulation. (details)

Pre-ILP: early July to early August
Fall semester: early August to mid-February
Spring internship: March to May/early June

Academic Focus

Regular university courses. Most academic disciplines are available. Special opportunities are available in global economics.(See Immersion Programs, Göttingen.) Following the fall semester in Göttingen, students participate in a special spring internship arranged to correspond with their major field of study.

Language Study

Program begins with a six-week German intensive language program (ILP)

Units

Students are required to take a full-time course of study while abroad.

Pre-ILP: 3 to 12 UC quarter units

ILP: 3 to 8 UC quarter units

Term: 18 UC quarter units per semester (about five courses)

Internship: Maximum of 12 UC quarter units, may vary by campus regulation

Housing

Students live in university residence halls with host country students, international students, or UC students. During the internship students live in apartments near their internship location. (details)
