Academic Focus

The academic program consists of:

  • Language instruction at the first-year level, including a German grammar, speaking and listening practice, and the development of reading and writing skills.
  • Elective course work. Students select two courses from a list of topics intended to provide the cultural content of the program and the background upon which their linguistic skills will be developed.
  • Project work. Each student is required to select a project from a list of topics on which to work throughout the semester; each student will produce a written paper and oral report, both in German, at the conclusion of the program.
