Studies in African art and environmental and development studies are complemented by living in a cultural and commercial center surrounded by villages that practice numerous ancient crafts. Kumasi is the traditional capital of the culturally rich Ashanti nation and the locale of one of the liveliest markets in West Africa. Academic FocusRegular university courses in African art history, studio art, agriculture (including rural sociology and agricultural economics), agro- and wildlife ecology, environmental and development studies, natural resources management, and other social sciences.
