A sprawling city of about two million people, Accra is a cultural center of performing arts, museums, and galleries that display traditional and contemporary art, ceramics, textiles, and jewelry, and the locale of bustling outdoor markets. As the birthplace of Highlife, Hiplife, and other musical genres, Accra boasts a lively club scene. (details) Duration Fall semester: late July to mid-December Spring semester: early January to mid-May (calendar) Extension is possible from the fall to the year at either the University of Ghana or Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Academic FocusRegular university courses in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, especially with an African studies focus; development studies; dramatic arts; and selected natural sciences (agriculture, biology, ecology, environment, health).
