Hungary: Beyond the Classroom

The information below is for 2007-08.

Internships/Independent Study

Students who present feasible proposals are encouraged to pursue internships or independent study projects for credit during the spring semester. Opportunities in particular fields vary from term to term, so students should indicate their interest as early as possible upon arrival in Budapest. Former EAP students have worked with political parties, human rights organizations, welfare programs, newspapers, television, and academic journals. Examples of past internships include assisting with the Open Society Institute's Civic Education Project; working for the national television broadcasting company; assisting in research at the medical school; and conducting research on ethnicity at the Institute of Sociology and Social Policy at ELTE. Before departure, interested students should work with their major department concerning the types of studies that would be accepted toward credit in their major. To earn academic credit for their work, students must complete a research paper documenting their internship or project.
