Israel: Fall Semester, Spring Semester, Academic year

(Below is the 2002-2003 program summary. Programs in Israel have been on hold since 2002.)

Host Institution: Tel Aviv University

Highlights: Tel Aviv University (TAU) is Israel's largest, comprised of nine faculties, 106 departments, 75 research institutes, 1,800 full-time faculty members, and more than 26,000 students enrolled in a wide range of programs.

Tel Aviv is home to a unique Middle Eastern society, including a young, secular community that is active in contemporary Israeli arts and culture. The city is located in central Israel on the Mediterranean Sea. The area is home to one-third of Israel's population, and is the country's industrial and financial center.

EAP students enroll in TAU's Lowy School for Overseas Students, where they find a full array of courses, taught in English, that focus on modern Israeli history and culture.

A special feature of this program is the TAU Internship Program (students may apply after acceptance into TAU). Internships place students with local organizations such as Amnesty Israel, Beit Issie Shapiro (for work with the developmentally disabled), the English edition of the Ha'Aretz newspaper, Greenpeace, and the Peres Center for Peace. After completing an internship students receive a certificate that describes the host organization, the job description, and the knowledge acquired.
