Mexico: Mexico–US Comparative Perspectives Program, EAP Study Center, Mexico City
Host InstitutionUC Center, Mexico City HighlightsThis program is ideal for juniors and seniors of all disciplines who are interested in the connections between Mexico, California, and the US. Classes are taught by Mexican specialists who are dedicated to intellectual and cultural exchange between Mexico and California and interested in questions of national and cultural identity. Program courses take advantage of the political and cultural richness of Mexico City to enhance the classroom experience. An academic excursion to Oaxaca and Chiapas provides additional perspectives on political, economic, and cultural questions. (details) DurationFall semester: mid-July to mid-December (calendar) Students may extend their EAP participation to the spring option at the National Autonomous University of Mexico or to the spring Field Research Program, provided that they have the requisite GPA at the time of their departure from California. Language of InstructionSpanish Language StudyThe program begins with a four-week intensive language program (ILP). UnitsStudents are required to take a full-time course of study while abroad. ILP: 4 to 8 UC quarter units HousingStudents may arrange their own housing, or they may choose pre-arranged housing in apartments or private homes for the first month of the program, and then find their own housing after the ILP if they want to move.
