Spain: Year Immersion Programs - University of BarcelonaHost InstitutionHighlightsThe oldest of Catalonia’s universities, the University of Barcelona has outgrown its historic campus in the center of Barcelona, which houses the Facultades de Filología and Matemáticas as well as the EAP Study Center. The three satellite campuses in Pedralbes, Vall d’Hebron, and Bellvitge are all accessible by bus and metro within 30 minutes. Barcelona is a thriving seaport and tourist center with good connections to the rest of northern Spain. (details) DurationAcademic year: mid-August to early July (calendar) Academic FocusRegular university courses in most academic disciplines are available, as well as a selection of core courses specially organized by the EAP Study Center. Courses previously taken by EAP students are listed at the Course Finder, although students are urged to check the current UAB offerings (click on English in the upper right-hand corner, then on Undergraduate). The Faculty of Fine Arts offers instruction in studio art, but space is extremely limited and admission is very competitive. Art majors should refer to the EAP website for UB program details. The Study Center also arranges internships for qualified students. Students attend classes with host country students and international students.
