Spain: Course Information

Academic Year Programs

  • Course Finder to search for courses previously taken by UC students.
    Additional courses may be available at host universities or program locations and not all courses may still be offered. Since courses in new programs have not yet been taken for credit, they may not appear in Course Finder.
  • Host university web sites to search online catalogs or course listings.
  • EAP Student's Guide (PDF) to find further details in the Academic Information section.

Special Curriculum Programs

The following programs have predetermined curricula designed for UC students.

Summer Language and Culture Program, UC Center, Madrid

Two courses are required for all students:

  • Spanish 32 or Spanish 33, depending on placement (10.0 UC quarter units)
  • Spanish 45 (2.0 UC quarter units)

Course descriptions

Hispanic Studies Program, University of Alcalá (canceled after 2007-08)

Five courses are required for all students:

  • Two courses from Spanish 170 through 179, depending on placement (4.5 UC quarter units each)
  • Three other Hispanic Studies courses (4.5 UC quarter units each)

Hispanic Studies Programs, Carlos III University

Five courses are required for all students:

  • Spanish 114, Spanish 118, or Spanish 128, depending on placement (4.5 UC quarter units)
    (Intermediate students take two: Spanish 107 and Spanish 108)
  • Four other Hispanic Studies courses (4.5 UC quarter units each)
  • Or substitute one regular Carlos III course

Language and Culture Programs, University of Córdoba

Two courses are required for all students:

  • Spanish 40, Spanish Grammar (12.0 UC quarter units)
  • History 150, Spanish Culture and Civilization (6.0 UC quarter units)

All students choose a third class from the following list (all have 6.0 UC quarter units):

  • Spanish 45, Language Practicum
  • Art History 70, Spanish Art History
  • Political Science 130, Spain and the Contemporary World
  • Spanish 160, 20th-Century Spanish Literature and Film

Course descriptions

Summer Pre-Intensive Language Program, Cádiz (open to Spain year students only)

One course is required for all students:

  • Spanish 99, Advanced Language & Civilization (6.5 UC quarter units)
