Sweden: Lund University - Academic Year Program

Highlights

The academic year program begins with orientation and the summer intensive language program (ILP), described on page 5 of this brochure. During the fall, UC students may continue language study and take regular university courses, many of which are offered in English. During the spring students take a full load of regular university courses in their major or allied field. (details)

Academic Focus

Students at Lund University can choose from among 90 educational programs in the sciences, engineering, social sciences, and humanities. (details)

Students attend classes with international students and host country students.

Language of Instruction

English or Swedish; although the primary language at Lund University is Swedish, texts for many courses are in English and UC students may write most of their exams and papers in English.

Language Study

Program begins with a required six-week Swedish intensive language program (ILP). Swedish language study is recommended during the fall term.

Units

Students are required to take a full-time course of study on EAP.

ILP (required): 3 to 10 UC quarter units in two Swedish language courses
Term: 20 to 24 UC quarter units per semester. Students normally enroll in four to six courses per semester. Students may earn up to 60 UC quarter units during the year abroad and should carefully plan academic progress toward their UC degree.

Housing

Students will be assigned to single rooms in a university dormitory. Students live in one of the large, modern student complexes. The rooms are usually larger than typical UC dorm rooms. Students live with other UC and international students, and Swedish students. (details)
