Highlights

Students attend the International Summer School at Sussex during this eight-week program. Key to the mission of the university’s International Summer School is the interdisciplinary course as well as small group teaching with individual attention. Courses are intensive and may include lectures, tutorials, labs, seminars, workshops, independent research, and field work. Optional group excursions are offered every weekend during the program. Summer: late June to late August (calendar)

Academic Focus

The program is divided into two, four-week sessions. Students enroll in one course during each session. The wide range of course offerings include American studies, anthropology, archaeology, art and architecture, biology, chemistry, creative writing, drama, economics, education, English, environmental science, film studies, forensic science, history, international relations, management studies, media and popular culture, music, philosophy and religion, physics, politics, psychology, and sociology. Students attend classes with international students and UC students.

Units

Students are required to take a full-time course of study while abroad. Students enroll in two intensive courses for a total of 12 UC quarter units.

Housing

Students are required to live in dormitory housing that is pre-arranged by the host university. Students live with international students and UC students. (details)
