Study in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland

UC students may experience the United Kingdom (UK) or the Republic of Ireland by studying at one of EAP’s 21 host universities in England, Scotland, and the Republic of Ireland. A variety of options are available, including summer, quarter/semester, and academic year programs.

UC students have the unique opportunity to read broadly in a given field and are encouraged to take course offerings not normally available at their home UC campuses. Instruction generally consists of lectures, seminars, tutorials, and labs, with more independent study opportunities than at UC. Classes are small by American standards, which creates a stimulating learning environment, often with more personal instruction and student-teacher interaction than at UC. As a result, EAP students find academic programs in the UK and Ireland to be interesting and challenging.

UC Student Intern Program

EAP Study Centers maintain a website of internship opportunities available for student participation during and following their EAP term/year abroad.

The internships are open to students at all EAP locations in the United Kingdom and Ireland. These non-unit-bearing internships are in business and industry, government, the arts, and non-profit public interest groups. Although most are located within the London area, the EAP Study Centers are working to expand options into other areas.
