Summer Programs

UC students can take advantage of exceptional academic and cultural opportunities through summer study on EAP. Summer study provides unique opportunities for UC students to:
  • accelerate language acquisition
  • learn about another culture
  • experience the personal growth, learning, and excitement of studying abroad
  • fulfill general education and breadth requirements

Summer programs in China, Denmark, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Spain, and Sweden focus on the study of language and the local culture. In the United Kingdom students can focus on general studies and UC breadth requirements at the University of Sussex; and at the Pembroke College Summer Program at the University of Cambridge, students can take core courses in the humanities and social sciences.

Program summary chart

Most programs are available to students who are at the sophomore level. Programs range in length from 6 to 10 weeks. EAP students earn UC credit for the work they complete abroad, and EAP courses are recorded on students’ official UC transcripts.

Many students participate in EAP’s summer programs to gain the language skills needed to participate in other EAP semester- and year-long options. EAP offers numerous fall, spring, and academic year programs in a wide range of disciplines.

Extending Participation on EAP
Students are encouraged to use the summer programs to prepare for other EAP programs. Students who may want to extend their stay abroad to attend a subsequent EAP program should consult with their Campus EAP Office prior to departure. Most programs have a separate selection process and application which should be completed before departure.
