Welcome to the inaugural issue of the UC Education Abroad Program’s e-newsletter for faculty! Through this newsletter EAP hopes to keep you informed about initiatives and opportunities for you and your students.

UC’s
vision of the study of Chinese culture and civilization as forming
a central part of its education and research mission goes back
to its founding period in the 1860s.

UC engineering and earth sciences students can now study abroad
at Imperial College, University of London, one of the premier
science and technology universities in Europe.

My years at EAP’s Mexico Study Center have been the most challenging and rewarding in my academic and administrative career, especially regarding undergraduate research.

Jointly offered by UC and the International Christian University in Tokyo, the program explores post-World War II Japan, its international influence and contributions, and its social and cultural phenomena, including the language and art of Japanese popular culture.

It’s
6 p.m. on a hot August day in the emergency room at Le Scotte
Hospital in Siena, Italy. An elderly woman in a wheel chair
is escorted in by two young people dressed in the fluorescent
orange pants and white shirts of the Misericordia di Siena.

Please urge students interested in EAP to explore the
EAP
website before the upcoming application deadlines.
