Schusterman Scholarships
Eligibility
The Education Abroad Program of the University of California is pleased to announce the Schusterman Scholarships for 2010-11. These awards have been made possible by a generous gift from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation. The Schusterman Scholarships will support UC students participating in the EAP Hebrew University of Jerusalem program for the semester or year during 2010-11.
Awards
Up to seven scholarships will be awarded to students studying in the EAP program in Israel. Students from all UC campuses will be competing for these scholarships. Awards will be up to $2,000 for semester participants and up to $5,000 for year participants.
Who is Eligible?
All UC students planning to participate in the EAP program at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem are eligible to apply for a Schusterman Scholarship.
Applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled at UC.
- Plan to study on the EAP program in Israel and ultimately be selected.
- Demonstrate high merit and meet the minimum 2.85 GPA requirement when they apply for the scholarship.
- Submit a completed application no later than February 1, 2010.
Application Process
The Universitywide Office of EAP must receive all application materials by February 1, 2010. Only completed application packets will be considered. You can contact an EAP representative at your Campus EAP Office if you are having problems with any part of the application.
Your completed application packet should contain the following, in order:
- Schusterman Scholarship Application form, including a signed "Authorization for Release of Academic, Financial, and Personal Information"
- Statement of Academic Goals
- Letter of Recommendation
- A copy of your transcript that shows grades through your last completed term
Statement of Financial Need (optional)
Do not submit applications in folders or binders.
Selection
A committee of UC faculty will select up to seven awardees throughout the UC system by March 1, 2010. By March 15, 2010, the Executive Director of UCEAP will announce the recipients of the Schusterman Scholarships. The scholarships may not be distributed equally across all of the UC campuses.
The deadline for the complete Schusterman Scholarship Application packet is February 1, 2010. Students will be informed of their awards by March 15, 2010.
