Brazil Study Center (Bahia) Branch Manager

Part-time: 20 hours per week

The University of California (UC), founded in 1868 and today comprised of ten campuses, is one of the leading public universities in the United States. As the University's primary outreach to the international community, the UC Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) offers UC students access to strong academic programs overseas that complement UC campus curricula.

UCEAP offers two popular programs in Brazil, full immersion at the Pontifical Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro and the UC Language & Culture program in Bahia hosted by Associaçao Cultural Brasil-Estados Unidos (ACBEU).

We are inviting applications for the new position of part-time Branch Manager to be located on the campus of ACBEU in Salvador, Bahia.  This position, working closely with the Regional Director at UOEAP in California, will serve an important role as the local representative of record as we establish our first UC branch office in Brazil. Other key functions include administration of the UCEAP Language and Culture program and activities including: finance and oversight of payroll, contract management, some student services, human resources, communications, and safety.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have three years of professional administrative experience including finance, contracts and student services. Working knowledge of the structure and organization of higher education needed. Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Portuguese and English verbal and written language proficiency. Applicants must demonstrate initiative, the ability to work independently and should possess strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to work effectively with students, university staff and other business staff.

Need to be able to work flexible hours including some evenings, weekends. Must be available to be on-call for student emergencies, including after hours. Requires permanent residency in Brazil.

B.A. in related field or equivalent training/experience.
