IT Director

Salary Range: $72,600–$107,300 (midpoint)

Position Overview: As the University's primary outreach to the international community, the Education Abroad Program (EAP) offers UC students from 10 campuses access to strong academic programs abroad that complement the curricula of UC’s campuses. EAP serves a large and diverse clientele with systemwide technology. The IT Director plays a key role in EAP’s ongoing reengineering efforts to meet business objectives and to identify technical solutions for increased efficiencies. Leads project management and implements IT strategy and solutions within a Microsoft server environment using a SQL server/.NET application development framework.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborates with diverse stakeholders to coordinate, establish, and continuously improve automation of EAP business services.
  2. Provides vision and leadership for emerging application technologies through consultation and understanding of user needs.
  3. Oversees complete project development life cycle applying Agile software development principles.
  4. Provides leadership, direction and support to a small team of professional programmers and network and desktop staff.
  5. Leads requirements analysis, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders in a complex business environment characterized by shared governance.
  6. Manages IT budget efficiently and effectively to maximize return on investment.
  7. Builds partnerships and identifies opportunities to support systemwide IT services.
  8. Requirements analysis for an ERP system.

Qualifications:

  1. Five to ten years IT experience with progressively increasing responsibilities in managing the development and maintenance of complex cross-platform business applications in a complex commercial, government, or higher education organization.
  2. Extensive project management skills and abilities required. PMP certification preferred.
  3. Ability to think strategically and creatively, anticipate technology trends, and transfer that thinking into cogent plans for a complex systemwide organization.
  4. Solid understanding of the technical aspects of the software development life cycle for multi-tiered systems.
  5. Bachelor’s degree in business/management, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline.
  6. Knowledge of university organizations and policies a plus.
