Study Abroad in Canada
University of British Columbia
Overview
The EAP immersion program in Canada provides UC students the opportunity to become fully integrated into the academic and social life of the University of British Columbia (UBC). One of Canada's most renowned universities, UBC provides a consistently strong undergraduate education. EAP students attend the same classes as regular UBC students.
UBC offers all the usual campus amenities, sports facilities, and cultural learning opportunities. Among the more unique features are UBC's world-renowned Museum of Anthropology, where students and community members learn about the cultures of indigenous peoples from around the world; UBC's Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, which sponsors avant-garde theatre and opera productions as well as concerts and recitals in a variety of musical genres; and the 763-hectare Pacific Spirit Regional Park adjacent to the UBC campus, which invites exploration. The campus is near several beaches and has views of the North Shore mountains. Downtown Vancouver is a 20-minute drive away.
Course Opportunities
This program features regular university courses and offers both unique and UC-complementary opportunities in the sciences, art and design, and humanities and social sciences. (Most academic disciplines are available.) In addition, qualified biology majors have the opportunity to take upper-division marine science courses at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, a unique research and teaching facility on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
Use the following resources to learn about courses on EAP:
- EAP Program Search provides information on general areas of study.
- Host institution online catalogs or course listings:
- MyEAP Course Catalog lists courses previously taken by UC students. Additional courses may be available and not all courses may still be offered. Since courses in new programs have not yet been taken for credit, they may not appear in the MyEAP Course Catalog.
