Study Abroad in France

French & European Studies, UC Center Paris

Overview

Paris, the French capital and one of the world’s most beautiful cities, is located in northern France on the River Seine. Paris is a major global center; as a leading business and cultural hub, it boasts exceptional architecture, a rich cultural heritage, and significant contributions to politics, education, media, science, and the arts in the international arena. Paris is also the capital of gastronomy, fashion, and shopping. With such diverse characteristics, numerous iconic landmarks, and world famous institutions, museums, and parks, Paris offers something for everyone.

In this program you can take upper-division courses in English. You attend all classes with other UC students.

Course Opportunities

A three-week introductory French language and culture component introduces you to Paris and the practical use of French. For the semester, you continue to study French and enroll in two upper-division program courses in the humanities and social sciences. Courses emphasize French and European studies and are taught by scholars from institutions in the Paris area. Offerings may vary each year.

Four courses are required for the program:

  • Two elective courses (5 or 6 UC quarter units each)
  • A third elective may be taken based on space availability

See the EAP Study Center website for current course information.
