Study Abroad in France

University of Bordeaux

Overview

Located in the southwest of France, Bordeaux is a city full of art, culture, and history with extraordinary 18th-century architecture and beautiful surroundings. The historic part of the city is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Situated on the banks of the Garonne River in the largest wine region in the world, Bordeaux offers world famous Bordeaux wines, classy restaurants or cozy bistros, and anything you could wish for in the way of shopping boutiques and haute couture.

EAP students take regular university courses at the four Bordeaux universities. A wide variety of disciplines and courses are available. All instruction is in French.
Students attend classes with international, French, and other UC students.

Course Opportunities

This program offers regular university courses. Most academic disciplines are available.

Due to calendar issues, courses in political science are not available in the spring option.

Use the following resources to learn about courses on EAP:

  • EAP Program Search provides information on general areas of study.
  • Host institution online catalogs or course listings:
  • MyEAP Course Catalog lists courses previously taken by UC students. Additional courses may be available and not all courses may still be offered. Since courses in new programs have not yet been taken for credit, they may not appear in the MyEAP Course Catalog.

Spring: The program begins with a one-week intensive language program (ILP) at the DEFLE, Bordeaux's institute of foreign language study. This option includes an introduction to French academic culture and an extensive writing project.

Internships, Research, and Independent Study

Internships for academic credit and independent study may be possible in this program. Arrangements are generally made at the EAP Study Center after arrival.
