Overview
The University of Bologna is the oldest university in Europe whose alumni include Dante, Thomas Becket, Copernicus, and Pasolini. Through EAP, you can be a part of this legacy and take regular university courses in a wide range of fields. The city of Bologna often ranks as one of the top cities in Italy in terms of quality of life and is considered the country's food capital. With over 20 miles of beautiful porticos, Bologna has one of the best preserved historic centers.
In this program, you attend classes with Italian and international students. UC students with only one year of university-level Italian can qualify for the Bologna fall or year programs by enrolling in the summer Pre-Intensive Language Program (pre-ILP), Siena.
Course Opportunities
Participants in this program take regular university courses. Most academic disciplines are available, including communications, dramatic arts, studio arts and music (through the MUSPE-Dipartimento di Musica e Spettacolo), economics, European history, film studies (not production), literature, mathematics, natural sciences, and political science.
If you are a fine arts student, you may take a limited number of courses at Bologna's Academy of Fine Arts. With adequate preparation and the consent of instructors, non-majors may also enroll.
Use the following resources to learn about courses on EAP:
- EAP Program Search provides information on general areas of study.
