Overview
University College Utrecht is located in the city of Utrecht, which has its origins in Roman times and is home to several important institutes of research and higher education. Students comprise nearly 20 percent of Utrecht's population, giving the city a university town atmosphere. You will enjoy access to some of the best bookshops, museums, and music venues. Utrecht's historic center, with the Dom (cathedral) and its many restaurants along the canal, is an excellent place to relax after studying.
Students attend classes with international and Dutch students.
Course Opportunities
This program focuses on the arts, humanities, sciences, and social sciences. Students enroll in four courses per semester.

Language Study
All EAP students in the Netherlands attend a two-week Dutch Language and Culture course (DLC) in Utrecht prior to the beginning of the term. Further language study is available during the term, but not required.
Internships, Research, and Independent Study
Internships for academic credit and independent study projects may be possible in this program. Arrangements are generally made at the EAP Study Center after arrival.

Housing
All students live on campus with international and Dutch students in residence halls in units of 6 to 12 students. Each unit has shared bathrooms and a living room. The campus dining hall provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner for students and faculty.
On-site Support
EAP students are supported by UC's network of EAP offices at every UC campus and partnerships with EAP host universities throughout the world. Local EAP staff in Utrecht will help you integrate into the culture and provide assistance with academics, housing, safety, and other issues. University College Utrecht also assigns a tutor to each student who can assist with personal as well as academic matters.

University College Utrecht
University College Utrecht is the internationally oriented, liberal arts and sciences honors college of Utrecht University. It is located between Utrecht University’s two campuses, on the site of a historic military barracks, the Kromhoutkazerne, near a beautiful section of suburban Utrecht, just off the Wilhelmina Park. University College faculty are drawn from the main university as well as from other Dutch and international universities. The college has four main academic buildings named after Enlightenment philosophers, an administrative center, a reading room, basic sports and cultural facilities, and several residence halls. University College attracts a richly diverse population of approximately 650 students from various backgrounds and countries. About one-third of the student body is composed of international students—many from Eastern Europe. Their common interest is their motivation to learn in an international environment.

Participation in EAP is a great value! The cost of EAP programs is typically less than that of non-UC study abroad programs. The dollar figures listed in the chart represent: 1) the amount of the fees that are paid directly to EAP in the current year, and 2) an estimate of the amount needed to cover personal living expenses in this location. Personal travel and entertainment are not included here.
Don't forget that you take your financial aid with you and the amount of your financial aid package will be based on the estimated TOTAL COST of this experience, as it is estimated below.

Application Requirements

GPA
3.0 cumulative GPA at the time of application and maintained through the end of the last term prior to departure. No exceptions.
Other
Program participants must have a desire to live and study in a small, residential college setting and actively participate with other students in the learning process.
Minimum Criteria
All applicants must also have:
- Serious academic goals and a clear plan for integrating EAP studies into
the student’s UC degree program
- Social and cross-cultural sensitivity; maturity; ability to adapt successfully
to a different environment and a new education system; ability to assess and
exhibit appropriate behavior in a variety of situations
- A willingness to abide by program regulations
- An endorsement by the Campus EAP Selection Committee and completion of all
campus-specific requirements (an interview may be required)
These are minimum program requirements. After selection by your Campus EAP Office, final admission is determined by University College Utrecht.

Supplemental predeparture materials will be required for many programs, including, but not limited to, host institution applications, visa and housing applications, medical clearances, etc.
